Twelve Days of Shopping Fairview – Day 9
On the ninth “shop Fairview” day… The next time someone asks you “What’s new?” say, “Flip phones,” or “Hula hoops,” or “Mozart as no. 1 bestseller on Billboard.” All true. With an equal amount of truth you can say, “Quilting and embroidery.” Just ask Rosanne Papadimoulis, owner of Anna’s Sewing Center at 22250 Lorain Road, who learned to sew from, and then named her business after, her grandmother Anna.
“New sewing technology is just amazing, like the features found on Elna and Stitch machines. They even thread themselves! Or for quilting, the computerized Handi Quilter machines that you can rent or purchase at our store. This has made it possible for people to finish projects more quickly and with more precision,” says Rosanne, who moved her business from North Olmsted to Fairview Park in May. She acknowledges that some “sewists” (yep, it’s a word, albeit a relatively new one, that combines “sew” and “artist” to describe someone who creates sewn works of art) still prefer to hand-sew, and Anna’s can provide them with fabrics, notions and other supplies. They can even do the quilting for you! Whatever your level of interest or expertise, Rosanne and her manager, Sue Dunn, can hook you up with a class, a club or advice. Visit their website for details on offerings.
Care to pique someone’s interest in a new hobby or delight a practicing sewist this Christmas? Hustle on over to Anna’s and pick up a kit, a machine, or gift card—20% off for December, so a $50 card will cost only $40. Or just stop in, visit the store and see what’s new again. The place is warm and colorful—for that matter, so are Rosanne and Sue (Fairview Park residents both)—and a lovely addition to Lorain Road.
